How the App Works

Smart Contact Scanner is designed to help users scan images, extract phone numbers, review them, and then save selected numbers to the device contacts or, if enabled by the user, to Google Contacts.

1. Select Images The app asks for photo or storage access so you can choose images.

2. Scan Numbers The app reads text from the selected images and detects phone numbers.

3. Review Results Extracted numbers are shown for review before any save action.

4. Save Contacts Selected numbers can be saved to device contacts or synced to Google Contacts if you choose that feature.

Information We Collect

Account information: If you sign up, the app uses your name, email address, email verification status, and account activity through Firebase Authentication and Firestore.
Device identifier: The app stores a device identifier to support account protection and single-device access behavior.
Selected images: The app accesses images you choose in order to scan them for text and phone numbers.
Extracted phone numbers: Numbers found during scans may be stored locally on your device so you can review, manage, and save them.
Contact data: If you use save or sync features, the app reads existing contacts to detect duplicates and writes new contacts only when you request it.
Usage data: The app stores scan limits, save counts, plan status, and related usage counters to manage free and paid app features.
Google account and Google Contacts data: If you choose Google Contacts sync, the app uses your Google sign-in session and accesses Google Contacts data only for the features you trigger.

How We Use Information

To let you sign up, sign in, verify your email, and recover your account.
To scan selected images and identify phone numbers.
To store scan results locally for preview and later actions.
To check whether a number already exists in your contacts.
To save selected numbers into your device contacts when you request it.
To sync contacts with Google Contacts when you explicitly use that feature.
To manage feature limits, plan access, and app usage counters.
To improve reliability, security, and account protection.

Permissions Used by the App

Photos / Storage: Used to let you select images for scanning.
Read Contacts: Used to detect duplicate numbers and sync saved status with your existing contacts.
Write Contacts: Used only when you choose to save numbers into your device contacts.
Google Contacts access: Used only if you sign in with Google and use the Google Contacts sync feature.

Where Data Is Stored

Scanned numbers and related scan data may be stored locally on your device in the app database.
Account data, usage counters, email verification status, saved base names, and device-related account controls may be stored in Firebase services.
If you use Google Contacts sync, the contact data you send through that feature is processed through Google APIs and stored by Google according to Google’s own policies.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only when needed to provide app functionality, such as:

Firebase Authentication and Firestore for account and usage management.
Google services if you choose Google sign-in or Google Contacts sync.
Your device contact provider when you save contacts to the phone.

Data Retention and Control

You can remove selected scan results and unsaved local entries from within the app.
You can delete contacts saved to your device by using the app’s delete features or your device contact manager.
You can sign out of your app account and disconnect your Google session where applicable.
You may contact us if you want to request help regarding account-related data.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information used by the app. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Children’s Privacy

Smart Contact Scanner is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
